We chose Hainan not out of sentiment, but out of rational calculation: the shortest negative list for foreign investment access in China, a more desirable corporate income tax rate, and an EF Account system enabling free cross-border capital flows. What we want to do is simple: leverage these policies to help international clients enter the Chinese market, and help Chinese clients go global.
After years of studying and working in Europe, I made a decision that surprised many — leaving my comfort zone to start a business in Hainan.
